Terms of Service
These terms cover the use of the Pivot Scale Labs website and the way we run client engagements. Project-specific terms always override the general ones below.
This page is reviewed whenever the site’s configuration or data practices change. The version published here is the current one.
Using this website
The content on this site is provided for general information. Copy, layout, code samples and diagrams are the property of Pivot Scale Labs unless stated otherwise and may not be reproduced commercially without permission.
We aim to keep technical information accurate, but it is not professional advice for your specific situation.
Engagements
Client work is governed by a written proposal or statement of work covering scope, deliverables, timeline, assumptions and payment terms. Where a proposal and this page disagree, the proposal applies.
Estimates are estimates. Changes in scope are quoted and approved in writing before work continues.
Payments
Project fees are typically split across milestones, with ongoing services billed monthly in advance. Invoices are due within the period stated on the invoice.
Third-party costs, hosting, software subscriptions, model usage, are passed through at cost unless agreed otherwise.
Intellectual property
On final payment, you own the deliverables we created for you. We retain ownership of our pre-existing tools, libraries and internal frameworks, and may reuse general knowledge and techniques.
Unless you ask us not to, we may reference the type of work delivered in general terms. We do not publish client names, logos or numbers without written permission.
Results and expectations
Numbers shown on this website, including the figures in the "What we are building toward" section, are targets, not historical results. Case studies are labelled illustrative examples of how we scope engagements, not records of completed client work.
Outcomes for any engagement are defined and agreed in writing before work begins.
Liability
We provide our services with reasonable skill and care. Our total liability for any engagement is limited to the fees paid for that engagement.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profit or lost data, except where the law does not allow that limitation.
Changes
We may update these terms. The version published on this page at the time of your engagement is the version that applies.
